Building a community of learners
Learning – we’ve heard this word countless times when we were in school.Youwere probably bored of this word, right? For how many years did we think that learning only happens in classrooms – where weneed a teacher toteachandaformal syllabusthat wehavetolearnfrom?
Wetooareconvincedof that meaning of the word‘learning’! Do you know what we call learning here?
We know learning can, and does, happen everywhere. We can learn from anyone – a toddler, an expert weaver or our mothers. We want to bring back that community of learning. Each of us has things to learn, and skills we can share. Everyone can learn, and everyone canteach!
We use volunteering as a way of reminding ourselves of this – our programmes are designed so that kids can learn alongside the adults running their sessions. We want to show that there’s knowledge hidden in making delicious chai and climbing trees. We don’t care about where, when and who – we just want to see what we and you can learn. And how much fun we can have in that learning process.
What do we actually do? We run volunteer-led programmes in schools, in our drop-in centre- Third Space Mini (please come say hello!) and in public spaces around Udaipur.
