“It is our job to make our city. A plan for the people of Udaipur, by the people of Udaipur”
We all want a city full of greenery and clean air, with places to play, have fun. In Udaipur we have always believed that it is our job to make our city. Time and time again people, young and old, have come together to reinforce the work being done by the government. This has given us the courage to start 10 lakh vriksh (1 million trees). We hope to come together with others in the city, create and use green spaces that are available to have fun. To come together to take action to make the area where we live better. To share thoughts, ideas, knowledge with one another. 10 lakhvriksh programme (someone said it is more like an ‘aahvaan’ or to invoke something bigger than a person or group) is a plan for the people of Udaipur, by the people of Udaipur. Its foundations are volunteering, life-long learning and building connections. Through this initiative we want the community to plant and nurture 10 lakh trees (1 million trees) in and around Udaipur. This will give us green cover. More importantly, we hope that through planting people will come together to learn from one another. This, in turn, will make us a resilient community.
