Moving from toys to the most everyday material; cloth. It’s all around us, but we rarely think about it. We will look at the history of cloth making, different types of cloth, how it has shaped us as individuals and as a world, and what’s new in the world of textiles.
We’ll look at the science and maths of weaving, learn about environmental impacts of fast fashion, and try to make our own cloth. You might see people making their own fabric or using a spinning wheel to produce their own yarn from fibres. There may be fabric sculptures and experiments with different dyes.
