Ekyabhav

Do we wait for a next time or do we, as a community, learn to solve our problems together?
10 lakh vriksh – the name might be bit of a mouthful but it carries a simple message. Udaipur is a home to all of us. If only some members take care of it and others do not, it will be hard to run this home for long.
Planting and nurturing 10 lakh trees all over Udaipur are a major part of this project but it’s not limited to that. If we all can come together and achieve this huge task, we can handle any problem in the future, together.
Swadeshi movement, Satyagraha – what do all these movements have in common? What was the secret behind the success of them? You guessed right – community. Why did these movements happen? Because people realised, they had to take responsibility for the change they wanted to see. Taking responsibility for change enabled them to drive change. The trust built within the movement allowed tough decisions to be taken and to be upheld. This built a community with ekyabhav (one feeling).
Life is unpredictable and when it hits, it hits hard – COVID -19 is the freshest example of that. No one was ready for it, but we have had to learn to live with it. A part of that learning was how to work together as a community. We couldn’t have survived the way we have without trusting each other, helping each other and being responsible for each other.
This wasn’t the first time and it definitely isn’t the last. So, the question is – Do we wait for a next time or do we, as a community, learn to solve our problems together?
