“Volunteers get to explore their own limits, the world and new people, and become open to learning new things”

We tend to think that learning is for “kids”, and if we need to learn something as an adult, it means we are somehow flawed. But learning happens everywhere, all through life. And that’s what volunteering is; a chance to learn something new, with new people.

Volunteers get to explore their own limits, the world and new people, and become open to learning new things. We believe that learning makes us resilient and keeps us growing.

Every year we share the volunteering opportunities for the year with volunteers. We describe what volunteers will do, and what they’d learn in each (eg. writing, public speaking, design). Volunteers then choose based on their interests or their learning needs.

We then train the volunteers before they run sessions with students or learners. Some of these sessions are in schools, others are in public spaces. Following their sessions, we run structured reflection sessions so volunteers can embed their learning and see how to apply it.
