“We are the catalyst that enables you to build connections while planting.

That just by listening to people and allowing our brain to roam, you gain insights that you just can’t find in books or on Google.

I am responsible for planting the sapling, getting the tools, digging the hole, and remembering to water the plant”

Community planting

10 Lakh Vriksh programme (someone said it is more like an ‘aahvaan’, or in English a clarion call) is a plan for the people of Udaipur, by the people of Udaipur. We want the community to plant and nurture 1 million trees in and around Udaipur. This will give us green cover, but much more importantly, we hope that people will come together to learn from one another. This, in turn, will make us a resilient community.

Community planting is our attempt to bring people together; here we are the catalyst that enables you to build connections while planting.

If we look at community planting in a little more detail, it will look something like this –

Dharohar provides:

  1. Plant saplings from an exhaustive list of indigenous plants, free of cost
  2. Advice on what and where to plant, and how to take care of trees
  3. Connections to resources such as tree guard suppliers
  4. Connection within the community via our app and other media
  5. Connections to experts in the field of biodiversity and botany
  6. Green spaces around the city such as gardens and Jungle

And we are able to do this because we have been asking for help from many people who have all shown an eagerness to help. By passing on this knowledge, we repay our debt to those who have helped and taught us along the way. Did you know? That just by listening to people and allowing our brain to roam, you gain insights that you just can’t find in books or on Google.

Who can help us in this?

This is a community programme and we are expecting that people from the community, be it business, educational institute, government organisations, social groups of local people or media can contribute.
